James Ruben AAPI CPV B.PropEc, GrdCert (Disp Res)

James has some 14 years’ experience in property valuation and advisory services. He has worked in both Canberra and Sydney, and in the private and public sectors throughout his career. James has worked in many different facets of valuation and advisory services. Some of the notable aspects of his experience include:

  • Valuations of institutional grade assets with values of up to $250 million
  • Valuations of specialised assets such as ‘pet hotels’, contaminated lands, petrol stations, child care centres, etc.
  • High level strategic advice to Government and publicly listed companies, in relation to portfolios with total values of over $1 billion.
  • Managing the compulsory acquisition process of various sites and interests in land for various infrastructure projects for NSW government.
  • Advising dispossessed parties in compulsory acquisition matters.
  • Large portfolio valuations of mixed assets for rental assessments, insurance, and fair value purposes.
  • Expert reports for the Family Court, for family law purposes.
  • Rental determinations for retail, office and specialised assets.
  • Insurance replacement cost assessment for various types of assets.​

James has completed a bachelor of property economics, a graduate certificate in dispute resolution, and the certificate IV course in property. He is an associate member of the Australian Property Institute and holds a Certified Practising Valuer endorsement. He is also the current Vice President of the Property Owners Association of NSW, in which capacity, he has been involved in the consultation process for changes to key property legislation in NSW.​
